With the engine conversion still fresh in the engine bay its first outing was at this years GTI International. With a 2004 S4 4.2 V8 under the bonnet you would be hard pressed to see that the Avant started out as a 1.9 TDI as the fit looks factory.
But there is more than just an engine conversion here as the whole running gear has been transplanted, including the gearbox, four wheel drive system, fuel tank, clocks and suspension
complete with the centre console and satellite navigation unit. AP Racing RS4 discs, calipers and brake pads have been fitted to the front with S4 calipers with vented discs and Mintex Extreme pads to the rear, along with a Milltek stainless steel exhaust system .
It’s first turn of the wheel in anger was on the strip where it produced a respectable 14.45 secs ¼ mile.
The engine is set to get a full tune up to enable it to get the best out of its current modifications.
Full details of the conversion are to follow so keep an eye out for the evolution of PSI Tuning’s latest project.
