The original VW muscle engine, based on two capacities, the 2.8, commonly found in the MK3 Golf, and the 2.9, found in the Corrado. These can also be oversized 3.0 and even 3.2 litre.

This engine has been around since the early 90’s, which now makes this engine widely available, as well as highly tuneable. Due to these facts, it has become a popular conversion, for many cars in the VW range, from the MK1 Golf, right up to the MK3 Golf, but is mainly popular with the MK2 owners.

Apart from the added smoothness and torque the VR6 will add, it also has another main selling point, the sound it creates. Coupled up with a good exhaust and performance filter, the VR6 produces a sound out of this world.
