This MK2 GTI was inspired and innovated by PSI Tuning to meet the OE clean look the customer required.
Originally the car came into us as a completely standard 1.8 8v GTI with only 49K on the clock. To tell the truth, it was a shame to rip the existing engine out. But as I’m sure you will agree the 1.8t 20v 225bhp engine fitted, doesn’t look to far from a factory fit, and is still very in keeping with the OE look the customer wanted.
Tim wanted the engine to be the only focal point in the engine bay, which meant us re-positioning the ancillaries in the legs, and smoothing the inner wings. Match this with the washer bottle and smaller, up rated, dry cell battery, mounted in the boot, and we met the desired effect.

A Samco turbo inlet pipe was added along with a 90 degree bend, to mount the Quickshift cone filter correctly. All other pipe work, including the custom made pipe work for the Forge front mount intercooler was completely original. All in keeping with the OE look we hoped to achieve. PSI fabricated a 2 ¾” exhaust system with de-cat & down pipe.
Continuing with the OE look the car has been modified in such away that it is still running with it's 'fully working' original clocks and key, without the need to have the transponder key hidden behind the dash. It is also running ‘Custom Code Phase 1’ software, and a 5-speed MK4 TDI gearbox
All of the above has meant a car has been created which is quick, smooth and responsive, whilst keeping all of the character of a completely original vehicle.
